In April 2021, we had the honor to participate in first-ever Latvia's energy innovation forum "AC / DC Tech" organized by Sadales tīkls.
AdvanGrid, Investment and Development Agency of Latvia, labsoflatvia.com, and Green Tech Cluster Latvia discussed the development of innovations in the Latvian energy sector. The main conclusions were as follows:
1. The big players in the energy sector need to be significantly more open in implementing and testing innovations in the long run - technology does not emerge overnight. It is a laborious and time-consuming process.
2.Further work is needed to establish and improve sandbox platforms so that public energy companies can access innovation without lengthy and complex procurement procedures.
3. The state must support local innovation not only by awarding grants but also by allowing local institutions to be used as a rush platform before launching in the global market.
